Crosby Street Gallery ran temporary gallery and store in New Haven, home to many students, arts professionals and art lovers that make the city a diverse and vibrant place. The gallery featured a series of exhibitions and performances that explored everything from photography, drawing, and fashion to dance, film, music, and theater. This was a great opportunity to present a broad range of talented emerging and established artists from New York, New Haven, and beyond.
"Project Storefronts," which brings artists, arts groups and creative entrepreneurs into vacant storefronts, is a pilot program designed to enliven the city's commercial districts and encourage new arts-related retail and ventures. The project won the Arts Council of Greater New Haven "Giant Steps" Award, the Creative Economy Award from the New England Foundation for the Arts, and a $100k National Endowment for the Arts grant. This gallery was made possible by a partnership with the City of New Haven's Department of Cultural Affairs, Office of Economic Development, and New Haven Economic Development Corporation.
