Crosby Street Gallery specializes in presenting online and pop-up exhibitions of photography, sculpture and paintings by emerging and professional artists. It is a mission-oriented gallery, working with community groups and not-for-profits to bring art to non-traditional public and private spaces.
Founded by artists Jeff Badillo, Julie Chan, and Robert Sanchez in 2009, the gallery was named after Crosby Street in SoHo, the location of a graffiti carving that boldly spelled out, “Love”. Working day jobs and finding themselves thinking more about a new kind of arts organization by night, the trio decided to start a gallery to increase the accessibility of art, both physically and emotionally. Through personal artwork and collaborations with artists across the nation, the goal of Crosby Street Gallery became to inspire, fascinate and ultimately expand how people relate to art, each other and the world around them.
Crosby Street Gallery believes that art is inextricably tied to the health and quality of urban life. They support efforts that seek to build sustainable, community-oriented cities that value artists, people, and the environment. A portion of their proceeds from pop-up shows and the online store is donated to organizations and charities that uphold their values.
